PARODY
A parody (also called pastiche, spoof, send-up or lampoon),
in current use, is an imitative work created to mock, comment on, or
trivialise an original work, its subject, author, style, or some other
target, by means of humorous, satiric or ironic imitation. As the literary theorist Linda Hunchtion puts it, "parody … is imitation,
not always at the expense of the parodied text." Another critic, Simon
Dentith, defines parody as "any cultural practice which provides a
relatively polemical allusive imitation of another cultural production or practice."Parody may be found in art or culture, including literature, music (although "parody" in music has an earlier, somewhat different meaning than for other art forms), animation, gaming and film.

THE RAILWAY CHILDREN
The first time I finished reading the novel "The Railway Children" I don't think I understand the story very well. I think it's hard for me to understand the novels for form three. The first novel for form 3 that I read was "Around The World in 80 days". This novel was easy for me to remember because I've watch the movie countless time.
So, for this next novel I search the web for some info and found a movie about it.

WATER POLLUTION
Water pollution is a major global problem which requires ongoing evaluation and revision of water resource policy at all levels (international down to individual aquifers and wells). It has been suggested that it is the leading worldwide cause of deaths and disease, and that it accounts for the deaths of more than 14,000 people daily. An estimated 700 million Indians have no access to a proper toilet, and 1,000 Indian children die of diarrheal sickness every day. Some 90% of China's cities suffer from some degree of water pollution, and nearly 500 million people lack access to safe drinking water. In addition to the acute problems of water pollution in developing countries, developed countries continue to struggle with pollution problems as well. In the most recent national report on water quality in the United States, 45 percent of assessed stream miles, 47 percent of assessed lake acres, and 32 percent of assessed bay and estuarine square miles were classified as polluted.
Water is typically referred to as polluted when it is impaired by anthropoganic contaminants and either does not support a human use, such as drinking water, and/or undergoes a marked shift in its ability to support its constituent biotic communities, such as fish. Natural phenomena such as volcanoes, algae blooms, storms, and earthquakes also cause major changes in water quality and the ecological status of water.

WHITE LIONS
The White Lions are rare animals that found in South Africa. They are not albinos, but a inherited scarcity, unique to one common region on the glob. Their white color is a result of rare color mutation of the Kruger breed of lion.
In white lions, the males are full-size, weighty and slow. Whereas, the females do most of the hunting like an ordinary lioness does.
They probably have this great disadvantage of having no camouflage, and a simple wandering would almost certainly not be able to get within range of prey animals.
It is hard to establish accurately how many white lions there are today, an approximation by a trust states that there are less than 300 White Lions world-wide.
As the white lions are very rare, they are separated from their natural habitation into a confined breeding agendas in South Africa and are kept in Zoos or circuses. This has mainly been done to save this rare being from getting hunted down and fall ultimately into a total extinction. It is sad, but the fact that today all white lions are found captive, although with an intention of saving them and protecting them.

Momotaro (Peach Boy)
A long time ago, there live an old couple in a far away land. They have no child and only the two of them live there. One day, they went out to go to a river nearby to get some food. It was their lucky day because a giant peach happens to be floating on the river. Without any second thought they took the peach back home. When the husband tried to cut the peach, it moves. Then came out a teenager from that peach. The couple wasn't surprise even a bit. The teenager came out from the peach so the couple named the teenager Momotaro (Peach Boy). For the couple momotaro is like a blessing from the god given to them but only for a while because momotaro said that he was destined to slay a demon that haunts a nearby village. The couple threw momotaro out of the house into the street.
Following his so called destiny, Momotaro travels to the village that was disturbed by the demon. On his way, he suddenly heard a cry for help. He followed the sound and found out the sound came from a monkey, a dog and a pheasant. They were trap in a net. So, Momotaro helped them to escape. After the three animals was released, with the craving to eat Momotaro they attacked him but momotara was to strong for them and end up back trap in the net. Then, came a ringleader of a circus. He was the one that was responsible for the trap. He set up the trap so that he can capture the three idiot animals back so that he can eat them. It was because of their lame act that his circus broke. Momotaro agrees with the ringleader but Momotaro isn't as cruel as the ringleader. Momotaro will let the three idiot animals live as long as the won't do the same thing they tried to do on Momotaro again. So, now Momotaro is accompanied by the three idiot animals. The ring leader also accompanied him.
Now, the group proceed to the village. When they arrived, the village reeks of sweaty smell. There was no women there. The men of the village explain that the demon kidnapped all the women in that village. After that, Momotaro is now more eager to slay the demon and on top that he now knows where is the location of the demon's island. A short walk from the village the group arrived at the beach. They will need a boat to cross the wide ocean to reach the demon's island. While Momotaro was thinking, he saw a few kids bullying a turtle. Momotaro chase the naughty kids away and save the turtle. Then, the three idiot animals remembered a story about a young man saving a turtle and was brought to an underwater world by the turtle and was also given rewards for his kindness but in the end the man died when he turns old after opening a box given to him from the underwater world. So, the three idiot animals climb on to the back of the turtle and wave their good bye to Momotaro and the ringleader. Just a few seconds after the turtle and the three idiot animals dive into the ocean, the three idiot animals knowing now that they can't breath underwater surfaces up. While the three idiots was goofing off the ringleader found a boat they can use to go to the island.
In the middle of the sea the three idiot animals started to get hungry. Hearing their tummy grumbling, the ringleader remembered that he has a piece of cookie in his pocket. He then gave the cookie to the three idiot animals. the three idiots fight against each other for the cookie. As they were fighting, the cookie was accidentally roll out of the boat into the ocean. Suddenly, a mysterious lady came out of the ocean. She showed them 2 items. On her right hand she has the cookie that they just drop while the left has a coupon for a big feast in a far away restaurant. The three idiots choose the cookie. For their sense of truth the lady gave them the coupon. After reading the coupon the three idiot animal found out that the coupon had expired since 10 years ago but by the time they finished reading it the lady had disappeared.
The next day, They finally arrived at the demon's island. Just when Momotaro tried to just barge in, the three idiot animals had a good idea. The idea was to disguise themselves before attacking the demon. The dog disguise itself as a monkey, the monkey disguise itself as a pheasant, and the pheasant as a dog. "This is why I wrote them as the three idiots". The three idiots went inside and found out that the demon's place isn't as scary as they thought. It was a paradise for women in there. Then, Momotaro went inside. Momotaro was dressed like a girl. The three idiots found out that Momotaro isn't a he, he was a she. Being stared for too long Momotaro kicked the idiots so hard that they flew out of the island. Suddenly, the ring leader showed himself. Momotaro was surprised to see that the ring leader was actually the demon that she had always wanted to slay. She felt that she have been tricked all these time. The demon said "I didn't tricked you. I said that I am the ringleader of a circus". Momotaro said that he never said that he was a demon. The demon replied "you never asked me?". To comfort Momotaro, the demon propose to her and they lived hapilly ever after although Momotaro was a bit shy after hearing it. "Oh, I almost forget about the idiots". In the end the monkey stole a food from a crab and got crushed by a tree trunk. The pheasant went to sing on a tree near an old women's house and had his tongue cut of by her. Finally for the dog, he went to live with an old farmer and in a short time he was buried alive by the farmer because he thought that it would give him a good fortune. But that's all in a different story".

PUT ONE'S FOOT IN ONE'S MOUTH
Mazlan isn't a very clever student. He always fail in his exam. In fact it will be miracle if he passed his exam. His highest score was only enough to pass. One day, one of the teacher at his school said that he is a failure. The teacher said that he will always be a failure and the teacher was confident enough to bet that if Mazlan gets the highest score in the next exam he will personally quit his job as a teacher. When Mazlan hears about it he became furious. His eyes are now opened. He had set only one goal in his mind and that is to teach that teacher a lesson by getting the highest score in next exam. He studied from the late evening to midnight on weekdays and studied from dawn to the afternoon and from the late evening to midnight on weekends. A couple of months past after the bet, now is the time for Mazlan to shine. He answered all the question like it was a kindergarten questions. The result was out and Mazlan gets the highest score. After the bet that the teacher made, he put his foot in his mouth when he heard about it. Just as the bet was said the teacher will quit his job. After the bet was over, I bet that you think that he became a miserable man. Well, believe it or not he actually became a successful man but all that is in another story.

MY UNEXPECTED SUNDAY (26/2/2012)

Wow, this is so unexpected. This is the second time this incident happened. I woke up that morning and found out that a pipe burst in the yard of my house. I think the pipe burst during night time. That night, my father wasn't home because he had to attend a camping program in Merotai. So, there's only me, my mom and my sister at home.
We noticed this early in the morning. By that time, my house was already a bit flooded. So, my first job of the day was to feed the ducks and at the same time I have to fill up some bucket with water. After that, I had to shovel up some dirt in the yard so that it is easier for people to get to the back of my house.

At 9.20 a.m. the workers arrived. I have to keep an eye on them so that there's nothing bad happen. The workers worked non-stop until the afternoon. Then, they start their work in the evening. They finished their work at 4.00 p.m..

Planning and some experimentation takes place at Hyneman's workshops in San Francisco, experiments requiring more space or special accommodations are filmed on location, typically around the San Francisco Bay Area and other Northern California places, going elsewhere when required, such as Florida for alligator experiments, or Africa for shark and elephant myths.
During the second season, members of Savage's and Hyneman's team ("The Build Team") were organized into a second team and now generally test myths separately from the main duo and operate from another workshop.

FAKTOR-FAKTOR REMAJA MEROKOK

EUROPIAN DRAGON
European dragons are legendary creature in folklore and mythology among the overlapping cultures of Europe.
In European folklore, a dragon is a serpentine legendary creature with two pairs of lizard-type legs and bat-type wings growing from its back. A dragon-like creature with no front legs is known as a wyrm.
The Latin word draco, as in constellation, comes directly from Greek δράκων, . The word for dragon in Germanic mythology and its descendants is worm, meaning snake or serpent. In old English wyrm means "serpent", draca means "dragon". Finnish lohikäärme directly translated means "salmon-snake", but the word lohi- was originally louhi- meaning crags or rocks, a "mountain snake". The word lohi- in lohikäärme is also thought to derive from the ancient Norse word lógi, meaning 'fire' as in the Finnish mythology, there is also mentions of "tulikäärme" meaning firesnake, or fireserpent. Though a winged creature, the dragon is generally to be found in its underground lair, a cave that identifies it as an ancient creature of earth. Possibly, the dragons of European and Mid Eastern mythology stem from the cult of snakes found in religions throughout the world.
In Western folklore, dragons are usually portrayed as evil, with the exceptions mainly in Welsh folklore and modern fiction. This is in contrast to Asians dragons, who are traditionally depicted as more benevolent creatures. In the modern period, the European dragon is typically depicted as a huge fire-breathing, scaly and horned dino-like creature, with leathery wings, with four legs and a long muscular tail. It is sometimes shown with feathered wings, crests, fiery manes, ivory spikes running down its spine and various exotic colorations.
Many modern stories represent dragons as extremely intelligent creatures who can talk, associated with (and sometimes in control of) powerful magic. Dragons have also been shown as guardians and friends of humans, with evil dragons simply misunderstood by humans. In stories a dragon's blood often has magical properties: for example in the opera Siegfried it let Siegfried understand the language of the Forest Bird. The typical dragon protects a cavern or castle filled with gold and treasure and is often associated with a great hero who tries to slay it, but dragons can be written into a story in as many ways as a human character, including as wise beings whom heroes can approach for help and advice; in some such cases they resemble Asian rather than European dragons.

ANFIELD (LIVERPOOL)
Picture from http://www.uefa.com
Anfield was built in 1884 on land adjacent to Stanley Park, Liverpool. It was originally used by the Everton F.C. before the club moved to Goodison Park after a dispute over rent with Anfield owner John Houlding. With the empty ground, Houlding founded Liverpool F.C. in 1892 and the club has played at Anfield ever since. The capacity of the stadium at the time was 20,000, but only 100 spectators attended Liverpool's first match at Anfield. In 1906 the banked stand at one end of the ground was formally renamed the Spion Kop after a hill in KwaZulu-Natal. It was the site of the Battle of the Spion Kop in the Second Boer War, where over 300 men of the Lancashire Regiment died, many of them from Liverpool. At its peak, the stand could hold 28,000 spectators and was one of the largest single-tier stands in the world. Many stadia in England had stands named after Spion Kop, but Anfield's was the largest of them at the time; it could hold more supporters than some entire football grounds.
Anfield could hold more than 60,000 supporters at its peak, and had a capacity of 55,000 until the 1990s. The Taylor Report and Premier League regulations obliged Liverpool to convert Anfield to an all-seater stadium in time for the 1993–94 season, reducing the capacity to 45,276.The findings of the Taylor Report precipitated the redevelopment of the Kemlyn Road Stand, which was rebuilt in 1992, coinciding with the centenary of the club, and is now known as the Centenary Stand. An extra tier was added to the Anfield Road end in 1998. This then increased the capacity of the ground but gave rise to problems when it was opened. A series of support poles and stanchions were inserted to give extra stability to the top tier of the stand after movement of the tier was reported at the start of the 1999–2000 season.
Because of the restrictions on expanding the capacity at Anfield, Liverpool announced plans to move to a new stadium at Stanley Park in May 2002. Planning the permission was granted in July 2004, and in September 2006, Liverpool City Council agreed to grant Liverpool a 999-year lease on the proposed site. Following the takeover of the club by George Gillett and Tom Hicks in February 2007, the proposed stadium was redesigned. The new design is then approved by the Council in November 2007. The stadium was scheduled to open in August 2011 and would hold 60,000 spectators, with HKS, Inc. contracted to build the stadium. Construction was halted in August 2008, as Gillett and Hicks had difficulty in financing the £300 million that is needed for the development.

THE TALES OF MOUNT KINABALU
Tales of the Mountains's Name
The first derivation of the word Kinabalu is extracted from the short form for the Kadazan Dusun word 'Aki Nabalu', which means "the revered place of the dead".
As for the second source states that the name "Kinabalu" actually means "Cina Balu" (which would fully mean "A Chinese Widow"). Because of the lingual influence among the Kadazan Dusun of Sabah, the pronunciation for the word "cina" (chee-na) was changed to "Kina" (kee-na).
It was told that a Chinese prince, was cast away to Borneo when his ship sank in the middle of the South East China. He was subsequently rescued by the natives from a nearby village. As he recovered, he was slowly accepted as one of the people of the village. Eventually, he fell in love with a local woman, and married her. Years went by, and he started to feel homesick. So, he asked permission from his newly-found family to go back to China to visit his parents (the Emperor and Empress of China). As for his wife, he promised that as soon as he was done with his family duties in China, he would come back to Borneo to take her and their children back to China.
When he made his return to China, he was given a grand welcome by his family. However, to his dismay, his parents disagreed with him about taking his Bornean wife back to China. To make it even worse, they told him that he was already betrothed to a princess of a neighbouring kingdom. Having no choice, he obeyed with a heavy heart.
Meanwhile, back in Borneo, his wife grew more and more anxious. Eventually, she decided that she will wait for her husband's ship. However, since the village was situated far away from the coast, she couldn't afford to come to the shore and wait for him daily. Instead she decided to climb to the top of the highest mountain near her village, so that she could have a better view of the ships sailing in the South China Sea. Thus, she was then seen climbing up the mountain at every sunrise, returning only at night to take care of her growing children.
Eventually her efforts took their toll. She fell ill, and died at the top of the cold mountain while waiting for her husband to return. The Spirit of the mountain, having observed her for years, was extremely touched by her loyalty towards her husband. Out of admiration for this woman, the spirit of the mountain turned her into a stone. Her face was made to face the South China Sea, so that she could wait forever for her dear husband's return.
The people in her hometown who heard about this were also gravely touched by this. Thus, they decided to name the mountain "Kinabalu" in remembrance of her.For them, the mountain is a symbol of the everlasting love and loyalty that should be taken as a good example by women everywhere.
Local legend among the people of Ranau, a district in Sabah, has it that St. Johns Peak was the stone which her body was turned into.
